On the surface, we are a small sphynx cattery opperating in Central NY. My mother first became interested in the Sphynx breed when she seen one at the NY State Fair in the early 1970's, at which time she vowed to one day acquire one.
Well, one Sphynx lead to two, two Sphynx lead to three, and three Sphynx lead to our current group of four Sphynx and recently we've added a new member of our family, a lovely Bambino. My mother has two Sphynx, a Blue-White male and a Seal Mink Sphynx female, My sister has a Red-Mackeral Tabby and I have a Red-White Mackeral Tabby. Like many other Sphynx breeders, our cats share our homes, our beds, and many times our meals.
Our cats have never been caged, unless queening, although I feel caging is sometimes necessary and wouldn't hesitate to use a cage if the need arouse. A large, well constructed cage located in the family room offers kitty a safe," time out", spot where they are still part of the family. Think about it, when you have a small child and you need to get things done it is perfectly acceptable to use a playpen, right? It provides a safe place for babe while mother tends to the details of life. So too, is the importance of a cage or kitty room if space allows. Moderation is the key to using a cage well.
Throughout the pages of this website I'll share as much accurate information as I can for you to make an informed decision as to whether or not a Sphynx or a Bambino is right for your family and your lifestyle. When we started out it was difficult to find quality information, and today still, I find that much of the information available is either wrong, redundant or downright plagiarized.
